On Saturday August 20, 2005 Football Without Boundaries organized a historic football (soccer) match between two ethnic teams of Tamil and Sinhalese both whom has been fighting a civil war for over twenty years. The aim was to promote peace through sports despite the current political turmoil and the tragic Tsunami disaster.
A selection of the best players from Jaffna and the Galle district offered the public at Jaffna Stadium, 90 minutes of pure sports with no other agenda. Football Without Boundaries volunteer members successfully negotiated the friendly match approval with the Sri Lanka Army and the LTTE. The event was supported by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, the Football Federation of Sri Lanka, the United Nations, the Jaffna Commissioner and the Mayer of Galle.
Both teams played a competitive but fair game and despite the 3-0 score for the Tamil side, everybody was a winner. After the match a dinner party was offered to all the partecipants of the event where for one night everybody shared one love:

On Sunday August 21, 2005 a match between the Galle District Team and the Sri Lanka Army was played at the Jaffna Army Base. The Tsunami disaster affected players from Galle gave an outstanding performance winning the match 5-0. After the match a lunch was offered by the Army authorities and the war seemed on hold for one day.
